Chocolate Chip and milk stout

Chocolate Chip and Milk Stout Nitro
It was another session of after bedtime gaming with the guys. Our group plays a D and D style game in the basement every other Friday. After our kids go to sleep we dive into adventures sitting around a ping pong table rolling dice.
The beer: This week we brought a four pack of Nitro Milk Stout from left hand brewing. The beer is wonderfully balanced. It is a super smooth stout that has some mocha and its roastiness wasn’t harsh or overdone. Its subtle malt along with some of the nitro head gave me the feeling like I was drinking chocolate coffee milk. The thickness of the beer provides a mouth feel like you are drinking milk instead of thinner liquid.

The cookie: John made chocolate chip cookies. These were special cookies, they were tall and crispy. Meaning they didn’t flatten out to crisp up like some chocolate chip cookies do. Nor were they excessively thick and chewy. There thickness matched with their crisp level made for fantastic dipping cookies. (John’s baking tip: use parchment paper to drop the cookies on, it reduces the thinning out of the cookie while baking) There are many variables that make a simple chocolate chip cookie different in some way. Any chocolate chip cookie will do when drinking this delicious stout.

Cookies and milk to the NEXT LEVEL
(Not John's cookies, we ate them too fast to photograph)
The Pairing: I first sipped the beer, and then went right for a cookie dunk. The crisp of the cookie quickly absorbed the foam from the stout. The cold slightly bitter liquid, full of complexity, made the bite of cookie light up my palate. I ate the rest of the cookie dipping a little at a time until it was gone. I can’t wait to try this again.

I don’t normally love stout as a variety, but this one had such a perfect balance that I might have to be more adventurous in this category in the future.
